Lioresal 25 mg

Lioresal is an oral medication that relaxes skeletal muscles, the muscles that move the skeleton (and also called striated muscle). Lioresal is a muscle relaxer and an antispastic agent. Lioresal is used to treat muscle symptoms caused by multiple sclerosis, including spasm, pain, and stiffness.

Lioresal can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert. Avoid drinking alcohol. It can increase some of the side effects of baclofen. Do not use Lioresal at a time when muscle tone is needed to assure safe balance and movement for certain activities.

Dosing:
The usual starting dose of oral Lioresal for adults is 5 mg given three times daily. Based on the response, the dose can be increased by 15 mg every three days to a maximum of 80 mg/day in divided doses. Take this medication by mouth, usually 3 times a day or as directed by your doctor.

In general, your doctor may slowly increase your dose to lower your chance of side effects until the right dose for you is determined. Do not increase your dose or take it more often than prescribed. Do not suddenly stop taking this drug without your doctor's approval.

Side effects:
Lioresal may cause drowsiness, weakness, dizziness, headache, seizures, nausea, vomiting, low blood pressure, constipation, confusion, and respiratory depression, inability to sleep, and increased urinary frequency or urinary retention.
