Rimonabant

Rimonabant is the first in a new class of therapeutic agents called Cannabinoid-1 Receptor Blockers (CB1). Rimonabant is used in the treatment of obesity and related conditions.

Rimonabant (Acomplia) is a miracle drug for effective weight management. It's an appetite suppressant that blocks receptors in the brain called cannabinoid receptors that are responsible for wanting food. The drug Rimonabant stops these receptors from telling the brain that the stomach is hungry.

Rimonabant (Acomplia) works by blocking receptors of a substance called cannabinoid 1, which stimulates hunger and other cravings in the brain and is also present in fat tissue. This receptor is also present in the fat tissue and controls the hunger in the brain. So when you take this rimonabant drug, you will automatically eat less because you do not feel hunger. Side effects:
Side effects in the trial on Rimonabant (Acomplia) in obesity were vomiting and nausea, forcing about 19 percent of patients to leave the trial versus 13 percent of those who took placebo.
